Transportation & Intermodal Logistics

Built for Constant Motion.
Designed for Operational Certainty.

Transportation and intermodal facilities run on tight windows and constant movement—where concrete isn’t just structural, it’s operational. K&M Concrete supports this sector with high-spec concrete work built to perform under heavy traffic, repeated loading cycles, and schedule pressure from day one.

Understanding Transportation & Intermodal Demands

Transportation and intermodal logistics are a strategic priority for us at K&M Concrete. We have deep experience supporting transportation hubs—including airports, rail terminals, ground freight facilities, and supply chain logistics—with concrete solutions engineered to deliver steady results.

Every project we take on is driven by operational outcomes: ensuring safe circulation, enabling rapid turn times, and providing long-term durability in environments built for trucks, trailers, equipment, and high daily volume. Our approach is collaborative—we routinely partner with owners, general contractors, and trade partners to coordinate every detail and keep operations running smoothly

Precision, Coordination, and Quality Control

Transportation and intermodal projects demand consistency—because small deviations in grade, flatness, or sequencing can ripple into operational issues at docks, aprons, and high-traffic areas.

K & M Concrete’s structural concrete approach emphasizes accuracy, constructability, and quality control, with advanced layout and proven forming/placement methods used to keep work aligned to specifications and field conditions.

Our execution philosophy mirrors the same “no surprises” mindset used in other mission-critical markets—proactively coordinating, sequencing, and verifying so downstream trades can keep moving without rework.

Experience in active, logistics-driven environments

Transportation and freight sites are defined by movement—trucks, equipment, staging, and tight site logistics. K&M’s background in high-performance slab-on-grade, structural concrete, paving, and exterior concrete scopes supports the realities of these environments, where safety, durability, and schedule discipline must coexist.

Transportation & Intermodal Logistics Projects

Project Name: Little Chute, WI

Project Type: Intermodal Cross Dock

Project Owner/GC: Setzer Properties/Wilcock LLC

Project Tenant: FedEx Freight

Project Workscope: Footings & Foundations, Ductilecrete Slab on Grade, Ductilcrete Site Pavement

K&M Concrete Construction delivered a full‑scope concrete package for buildings and site infrastructure at a major intermodal transportation hub. The project included approximately 1.1+ million square feet of Ductilcrete® pavement, engineered to support heavy truck traffic, container handling equipment, and continuous logistics operations.

Our work emphasized durability, precision, and constructability across a large, schedule‑driven site where pavement performance and long‑term reliability were critical to daily operations. The scale and complexity of the site required disciplined planning, sequencing, and execution to maintain quality across extensive concrete placements.

In recognition of execution quality and pavement performance, this project was awarded the Merit Parking Lot Award by the Wisconsin Ready Mix Association.

This project highlights K&M’s expertise in delivering high‑performance concrete solutions for intermodal and logistics facilities where load demands, operational uptime, and long‑term durability are paramount.
